I think WHsmith's might be ok they have altered there stores well with the introduction of post office counters and cut out the overlap with music stores. I think HMV or other music chain, or one of the sports stores will be next.

It is believed some 10-15 are going to the wall, you have to look at the cost of having a high street store, even before you pay the staff. A very small shop in a centre will pay £20000 a year in rent, and that just the start. a few under paid staff another £40000, the profit on a pack of fags is around 4.5%.

you have 3 bars of chocs nicked out a box of 20, and you have made a loss. its the same with anything at the moment.
